Annie's Make & Create in Dawlish

Annie's Make & Create on Brunswick Place in Dawlish

Brunswick Place already sells gifts and coffee facing The Lawn. Annie’s Make & Create, at number 28, is built around a different habit: sit down, make something, and leave with it. Bookings for that kind of session are now open.

Monday is the regular club day, run with local artist Hannah Willson. The morning Home School Art Club is a six-week course for ages 12 to 16, 10am to 11.30am, working with paint, oil pastels and charcoal.

The afternoon Mini Makers session is for ages two to five, 1pm to 2.30pm, a drop-in that needs an accompanying adult. Paint, collage, chalk and nature materials are the starting point, and childminder groups are listed as welcome. Materials, drinks and biscuits are included.

The six-week course is £90; the toddler drop-in is £10 a session. Places are booked through Hannah on the contacts printed on the studio flyers.

The same room is already being used by visiting makers. Late October posters advertise children’s Halloween crafting and an adult witch-bell workshop with Darcy Sophia Holistic, and a Saturday evening paint-your-own house class with Lily Willow Studios.

Those dates will turn over. What they show is that the studio works as a hired table as well as a shop idea, which is the useful option if you are only in Dawlish for a week and a six-week club is too long.

The studio sits on the south side of The Lawn, the landscaped strip through the town between the old village and the sea. The station and the sea wall are a short walk downhill, so the studio is on a street people already use for a potter along the brook.

The website at anniescreate.co.uk still carries a coming-soon page and a mailing list. For what you can actually book this month, the Facebook posts are the clearer guide.
